Description: Winter Fairy Tale with Aurora! The Milky Way arch and the Aurora/SAR arc dancing together.
I won’t forget the night I spent on Mountain Ratitovec for a long time!
It was a true winter idyll filled with celestial wonders.
I was lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights, which “exploded” three times that night. Meanwhile, the SAR arc remained visible throughout the entire night.
Alongside the beautiful arch of the winter Milky Way full of nebulas, a very strong light glow appeared in the sky — the most powerful greenish glow I’ve ever captured in Slovenia.
In the foreground is the magical winter scenery of this incredibly photogenic peak. Below me, low clouds stretched in every direction, perfectly blocking the light pollution from the cities. In the background rose the Slovenian Alps, with Triglav proudly leading the way.
Yes, it was an extremely cold and windy night, but despite all the harsh conditions, this adventure was absolutely worth every bit of effort.
Ratitovec didn’t just give me new photos that night. It reminded me why we keep searching for that next summit: because sometimes, when you’re on the verge of giving up, the mountain you’ve never hike before delivers the kind of night you dream about for years.
