I am Uroš Fink, born on June 14, 1990, in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
“Live every day as if it were your last” is a thought I hold dear in life.
I love nature, being alone somewhere in serene silence under a starry sky. That’s when I feel truly at home in my surroundings and connected with nature.
From a young age, I was fascinated by astronomy, with childhood dreams of becoming an astronaut. Of course, life later took me on a completely different path. During my primary and secondary school years, sports were my main priority—I trained and competed in various disciplines. Later, I developed an interest in photography and everything related to it.
I bought my first camera in 2015 and initially photographed anything that came in front of my lens, but I enjoyed nature the most. The year 2020 was a turning point for me. I partially fulfilled my childhood dreams by starting to pursue astrophotography as a hobby.
What excites me most about astrophotography is that it makes the “invisible visible”—it reveals what our eyes cannot see, or what appears as complete darkness in the sky, even though we know that’s not the case. The universe is full of light and colors hidden from our eyes, and that’s just one of the reasons why astrophotography is so close to my heart.
The stories that unfold behind the creation of the final images are what make a photograph even more magical and unique. And of course, these are the moments you never forget, etched into your memory for a lifetime.
I have received numerous awards and recognitions both locally and internationally.
I held the prestigious title of The Milky Way Photographer of the Year 2021, 2022,2023 & 2025 where 25 of the world’s best astro-landscape photographers are selected annually. I earned my place in 2021 with: Our Lady of the Snows ( Milky Way panorama captured at Velika Planina ), 2022 with a panorama of the Perseid meteor shower on Mangart saddle, 2023 with a panorama: Shapes of Nature captured again on Mangart saddle.
I also received my first tittle of the Northern lights Photographer of the Year 2024 with a beautiful panorama: Cosmic Explosion which i captured in Croatia.
In 2022, I won first place in the astrophotography category at the international photography salon organized annually by Digitalna Kamera, titled DRONE & ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY. That same year, I took second place in the Nightscape category at an international photography competition organized by Optolong.
In 2023 i won the second place in DRONE & ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY international photography salon.
My work and photographs have been published in major global media outlets ( ESA, NASA, Forbes, NatGeo, The Guardian, Ursa, PetaPixel, EarthSky, Epoch Times, Vice, Daily Mail UK, Nature in Focus, DIY Photography, Capture the Atlas, and more ). I’ve had a television interview on the morning show Jutro on Planet TV, radio interview with Radio Trst, been mentioned on French national television, and had interviews in the Finnish science magazine Tähdet ja Avaruus, the Slovenian newspaper Nedelo, Mestnik, Digitalna Kamera, and magazine De Morgen.
I approach my work with immense passion, perseverance, love, and above all, the joy I experience while photographing and later editing my images at the computer with a cup of coffee in my hand.
