Description: Stellar Cottage is located in the middle of a forest surrounded by high peaks just 15 minutes from Lake Krn.
A fairy-tale location deep in the Julian Alps transformed into a true starry paradise at night.
It’s incredible how lucky I was this time.
The clouds in the sky cleared just a few minutes before I started photographing star trails in the astronomical twilight.
The light you see inside the cottage added an even more magical touch to an already beautiful location!
I knew I had to seize the moment, so I quickly grabbed my gear and captured this wonderful scene! Just a few minutes later, when I wanted to do focus stacking, the light inside the cottage went out, and I can tell you the scene looked completely different without it.
The illuminated path with roots leading to this stunning mountain cottage, and above it the band of the Milky Way with a glimpse of its Core dipping behind the high peaks, was a perfect way to start the night!
I photographed Star trails a bit before before, while i was waiting for best composition of Milky Way.
A big shoutout to the staff at the cottage too! The food was excellent, the portions huge, and they were very hospitable. Since the caretakers knew I was into night photography, they even let me sleep in one of the rooms until the morning-afternoon hours. It was an amazing experience for my wife and me, and we’ll definitely come back—maybe next time with our kids!
